30for30: Twenty-three

I'm not sure I like this skirt. I like the color and I like that it's corduroy, but it's not flattering. It just hangs there. And it sits awkwardly somewhere between my waist and my hips. I added it in as a 30 for 30 item because I've had it for years and I just never wear it. Now I know why. Do y'all have pieces like this?

All in all, it's not that bad. I like how this look came together and I'm excited I got to mix black and blue. I am wearing black today in honor of those killed in drinking and driving accidents. I don't know if this is an "official" event, but I'll definitely participate in this type of awareness as a dear friend of mine, my best friend in high school, was killed in October. I'm wearing black today for her.

Today is Maeby Shea's birthday! {Obviously} you can expect a post later on all the festivities. She is 21 and 3. I cannot believe she is three, but I'll save all the sappy memory lane gibberish for the birthday post.

Top: Target
Cardigan: Liz Claiborne
Skirt: Gap
Tights: Target
Booties: Steve Madden

Also, ever have one of those days where you forget your sunglass are on your head? You search the house up and down for them and then when you give up you realize where they are... this kind of happened to me. I forgot my glasses were on my face. It was so bright out today and when I looked back at some of my pictures I saw they were on. So I snapped a few without.

Corduroy is really tricky fabric - it's either your best friend or worst enemy. You look fab even if you don't find it comfy :)

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I think it's great you're supporting her in this way.

Happy Birthday to your pup! Brady just turned 5 last week!

Sorry to hear about your friend. I have had a few friends pass away from the same incident.

I love the skirt! It may feel like it fits awkward, but I truly can't tell! AND the color of it is amazing! Love how you mixed the corduroy with the dressier accents on top! You look fabulous! :)

Yesssss, I totally included things thinking I'd force myself to wear them only to regret it! In my opinion, from the pictures it doesn't look bad at all! It actually looks like a great length for you, not too short or long.

This is SUCH a cute outfit. I really, really love it!! It just works so well to me, even if the skirt is not your favorite. Kudos to including it in your 30 for 30 items!!

And I am also sorry for the loss of your best friend - you honor her memory very beautifully.

I've done that, leaving my sunglasses on without realizing, mostly because they are prescription and so when I do its either go back and bet my glasses out of the car or just leave on the sunglasses.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. This is one of those things that is very close to my heart though I have not lost someone close to me to an accident on this nature. But its just one of those things. I would rather call my mom at 2 in the morning to come get me than drive drunk.

and I also have items like that. In fact that swirly blue and purple top in my 30for30 is like that... and promptly going to goodwill the day this challenge is over. There's just really no place for it in my wardrobe.

You look lovely as always, Linley!

I'm so sorry to hear about your best friend. It's just so sad to hear about people who get their lives cut short because of the stupidity and selfishness of others. :(

You look totally chic, but I agree the skirt is kind of boxy. Nice that you paired it with more fitted pieces--and I love the flower pin on your cardi!

I think the skirt looks nice on you, but your gray skirt that you've posted a few times is much more flattering. I wonder if you could have this one tailored to be a little narrower around the bottom. It's such a pretty color!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. That is awful. Drinking and driving is no joke.

On a lighter note, those glasses are super cute, and I love your flower pin!

You look great!! Classic and chic!

I totally have a skirt that I also never wear- same deal, great on the hanger, but I feel like the fit is awkward.

I totally, totally understand! I put a shirt in my 30 for 30 that I almost never wear in an effort to wear it more and have found myself still almost never reaching for it. I finally wore it today and felt blah about the whole thing. I think it's time to let it go.

You look cute though and I like the skirt with your blouse and flower!
