Saturday Morning Playlist

This is my current dance-around-the-house-on-a-saturday-morning song.

I dare you to play it and not move your body.

Song of the Week: Trouble

I think in general, people either love or hate Taylor Swift. I'm just going to keep it real, I'm a big Taylor Swift fan. Do I think her vocals are the best around? No. But I do think she has an amazing talent and creativity for writing songs and making music - I like that she's consistent with her work, but is moving in her own direction. Plus, I've seen a few documentaries and interviews with her and she seems fun. Definitely on my top 10 list of people I'd like to spend a day with (quit judging me).

I bought her new cd this weekend. I'm not sure how I feel about sharing that with the world (since I am a professional woman in her late 20's), but I've wanted it for a while and I forgot to put it on my Christmas list.

I'm currently obsessing over this song (and performance). It's a little different than her usual acoustic ballad, but there's still an underlying love story (more of a tug-of-war) and it's been in my head since the AMA's. Enjoy!

Two Reasons

Here are two reasons why I love watching tv talent shows.

Poison and Wine

Do you ever come across a song that just speaks to you in some way or another? A song that you can listen to over and over again - where the 100th time is just as amazing as the first time you heard it? I am currently in love with this song. There's so much emotion within the lyrics and their performance; their voices are amazingly haunting and they tell the story so well - it's like watching a movie. I read an interview with Joy and she described the song as "a gut-level-honest tug and pull of affection and affliction." And that's exactly what it is. Enjoy.

Daily Threads: Nautical

So maybe this isn't your classic nautical look, but I definitely feel as if I should be on a boardwalk, on a pier, or at least near some large body of salty water. Hearing the waves, smelling the sunscreen, eating the fresh seafood... I need to get to the beach. Now. Wouldn't that be so nice? Oh, and as a side note, I general don't like seafood. Tuna and shrimp are ok, but I stop there. I usually don't even go there - but every now and then I can do it.

I thought reminiscing of the beach would help me avoid talking about the weather, but it doesn't. It's hot here. We are in the 90's, people - and no, I'm not talking Gonna Make You Sweat 90's. Although,  the 90's will make you sweat. Wait, what are we talking about?

Throwback Thursday

Now, I'm not sure that this will be a weekly thing here on D&T - but the idea of sharing some of my favorite throwback, old school jams is exciting. Hope y'all are excited about it too.

One thing I love: 90's pop and hip-hop.
So click and enjoy!

*Husband's favorite song. Probably ever.

Daily Threads: Love Song Playlist

This may be my favorite look thus far in the challenge. I've been wanting to wear it for quite some time, but I had to find the will-power to be patient enough to wait and wear it for Valentine's Day. I love this look - it's simple, pulled together, and girly.

Husband made reservations for a late dinner. For the record, a delicious dinner and quality time together is a perfect Valentine's date for me. I'm simple - love is enough and I receive it all year long. Today is just a great excuse to get dressed up and eat somewhere nice - and we will totally be taking advantage of that!

If you are still without a gift for your significant other, something thoughtful doesn't take hours of planning. I love receiving something personal and thoughtful. My first birthday that I got to share with husband, when we first started dating, he gave me something made by him. We were both in college and between our morning classes we met at his Explorer, opened the back of it and sat there, and I opened my gifts. The two mixed CDs stand out most. They were songs I loved, songs he loved, and songs we loved together. I played those CDs out for months. And I still have them.

I thought I would share with you some songs about love and some lovely songs that we enjoy and that you can make into a CD for your special someone.

Music Monday

(on Tuesday night. oops.)

Fact about me: I love Adele. Here is a reason why:

This is the first single from her new album, 21. It's good. She's soulful and I love it.

Music Monday

{via}

I'm not really one to get into "popular pop music." You know what I'm talking about - 20 on 20 xm, weekly top five songs in America - that kind of stuff. Sure, if it's on the radio or playing at the club, I'll listen and enjoy it, but it's highly unlikely that this gal will be downloading any of those songs for an ipod playlist. Except for recently. I have been downloading, listening, and getting excited when I hear some songs on the radio. So I want to share. Here is my list of "right now pop favorite songs":

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
Katy Perry - Firework
Lil Wayne - Right Above It
Rihanna - What's My Name
Flo Rida - Club Can't Handle Me

This is pretty random, and the list isn't that long, but I wanted to share.
