It's true - I've been striking Goodwill gold the past couple visits to my local Goodwill stores. When visiting in Maine, I'd hit the Goodwills in the area and always come away with spectacular finds. I found pieces by brands like Dior, Oscar de la Renta, Anne Klein, Patagonia, and Clarks. Not so much luck down here in the south. I feel like Goodwills up north are far better than those in the south. However, recently I have found some great finds! I'm not usually a "haul" blogger, but I couldn't resist sharing these!
I've found a few lovely blouses! An orange one! After all the fabulous feedback from my Orange-ish post, I decided I needed to get myself an orange shirt. I came across this orange, polka-dot blouse yesterday and snatched it up! Just being orange it was perfect enough, but then throw in some polka-dots?... It's perfect. There's no tag, so I'm not sure the brand, but the gold buttons have an anchor icon raised on them - so I'm just going to assume it's a nice shirt. I also found a cheetah meets cow kind of blouse - so I grabbed it. And then a black and white polka-dot blouse. Sure, I already have a few polka-dotted blouses, but none where the polka-dots grow. It was a no-brainer.
Then I found a gorgeous pastel yellow, vintage Escada pencil skirt. I'll probably end up hemming it to take off a couple inches - it's perfect. I love it! I also came across a lace skirt - yeah, it's the one that Target had this past fall. I wanted one in the Fall, but I was doing 30 for 30, so I couldn't buy it and by the time the challenge was over, they were all sold out. The coloring in this photo is weird. The yellow is a really pretty yellow (I promise!) and the lace skirt is more of a cream color - not white.
This is a petites top, so it appears cropped on me. Cropped is in, so I snagged it. I think it might be from the 80's (assuming from the shoulder pads, bright color, and the pattern) And the original tags are still on - it just looks 80's - or 90's? Actually, I'm pretty sure I've seen this shirt on Lisa Turtle.
I feel like over-sized clutches are all the rave as of lately. The purse section is usually one of the first places I check when going thrifting. I saw this clutch laying in the middle of the purse rack and immediately knew it was coming home with me. It's a gorgeous red and orange crocodile print from Forever 21 - and it still had the tags, so it's never been used!
I thought I'd share a photo of all the tags of the pieces that had them. I'm definitely not a vintage expert, so I really know nothing about these. Perhaps these items aren't anything special, but I wanted to share them anyway. If you know any these brands let me know!
Also, I know I've been slightly MIA as of lately. Nothings wrong, just been busy! We had a relaxed weekend that involved yummy food and basketball, Frannycakes came to visit, and we had a car issue pop up - so that's what I've been up to.
I can't look at another thrift haul :( Why don't we have any here?! These are fabulous finds, especially the skirts xo
ReplyDeleteGood for you, girl! I love finding great deals and our local Goodwills always have great items. Love the polka dot blouses!!
ReplyDeleteI'm the one who asked the "where are you? is everything okay?" question in formspring. :) Glad to hear you are just busy!! I'm so jealous of your finds. It seems that every blogger is great at thrifting and I have yet to find anything, dang it! Can't wait to see how you style all of these!
ReplyDeleteamy day to day
Wow. I have never had a great haul like that. You should show your hauls more often, I really enjoyed this post and have the urge to go to a good will.
ReplyDeleteYour finds looks super fun! As for the labels, I know Escada and it's a high end label. A new pair of pants at the likes of Saks would run you close to $700 so great work!

ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about "thrifting in the south." I live in FL and whenever I hit a Goodwill, I always strike out! Maybe you need to come to FL and thrift with me...you might be a good luck charm. Great job on the finds!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat the WHAT?! I've never found a haul like that at Goodwill. I think you're right... the GW's in the south are not like the northern ones!

Um yeah, my Goodwill DEFINITELY does not carry that kind of stuff! Makes me want to search a little harder though and be more patient. :)
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC finds! I'm actually drooling with jealousy. ;) Our good will options in SE Idaho are VERY limited, and I can guarantee no one has ever landed a vintage Escada skirt either! Good work!

ReplyDeleteI am thinking I need to find my local goodwill and make a trip!
I just went to the Portland Goodwill for the first time last weekend and it was amazing! I heard from a lady as I was leaving that the one in Biddeford is even better, but I was just in town for the weekend otherwise I might have driven down. Which one do you go to?
ReplyDeleteThis is an ammmazing thrift haul, I am quite jealous, I can usually find one or two things but never anything like this. That polka dot orange blouse is amazing, as is the lace skirt. Sooo good!

ReplyDeleteI love finding wonderful gems at the thrift store! The past couple of days I've been wearing clothes I've found and haven't really worn and been complimented endlessly. Which definitely makes it worth it. :)

ReplyDeleteOoooh, great finds!! I want/love the bag, khaki pencil skirt and both polka dot tops!! I can't wait to see the outfits you create. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you got all that! I only went to Goodwill once or twice in Montgomery, and I was disgusted. But thrift stores in NY are my favorite! I get Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren all the time!
ReplyDeleteNorth Meets South
Awesome finds! I would die if I found Dior at my locale Value Village (aka Canadian Good Will). The purse section is definitely one of the best place to find hidden treasures, I've had a plum leather clutch for years that I had paid 1$ and get tons and tons of complements on :)
ReplyDeleteVirginie’s Cinema
you made out! it's funny - i think i had better luck with the good will's in south carolina than i do back up north in maryland! though i did score a few gems today :)
ReplyDeleteI've had that same clutch for a couple years now and it never lets me down - great pick! ;)
