Color Inspiration

When the house becomes officially ours (in two weeks!), the first thing we plan on doing, before moving anything in, is paint! In previous years, I've found myself choosing bold colors for walls; usually browns, dark teals, and deep reds. I'm over that. I dream of a house in light, bright pastels and neutrals.

Below are just a few inspirational photos for colors I plan on throwing on our walls.

According to Martha, these are 18 go-with-everything, paint-anything, put-anywhere hues and projects that will work in any room.  Greige

Life Lately

Just a few recent snapshots of our life lately via instagram (@linleyshea).

Last week was incredibly busy - to say the least. Not only did we work 8+ hour days, but after work each day we had appointments and meetings related to house hunting. Monday we looked at four homes; the very first one we looked at caught our eye, and that night we found out another couple was interested in the house and was putting out an offer. Tuesday we looked at one house, then went back for a second viewing at the first home we saw Monday.

It was in our number one neighborhood and just felt right as we walked through it the second time.

That night we found ourselves in our realtor's office, signing an offer. We went up against another couple and ours was accepted!

It took two days for us to find a house. Crazy stuff.

We've met with our mortgage company, had an inspector view the house, and turned in our requests of the seller. They are currently getting quotes for our requests and pending all that goes well, we will close on the house in mid July!

You guys, this is all happening so quickly, but it's so exciting and we are in love with the house!

So all that happened last week. This week I have been mentally planning our move a few miles down the road. We actually have a month and a half between closing and our lease ending where we currently are - so luckily our move will not be rushed. I've also been mentally painting rooms, prioritizing DIY projects, and pinning every inspiring home photo available.

Needless to say the next couple of months will be busy. Super busy. I've already decided I won't be able to blog daily (yeah, I haven't been doing that since starting a job last year - I know), but I do plan on blogging when I can and I plan on sharing the journey with you as we go (and as I have time - let's be real).

Happy summer time!

Life Lately

This is cool.
{via}

You may, or may not, have noticed that I've been pretty sparse with my posts lately. Life has just seemed to pick up - I'm enjoying it, but definitely missing my daily time for reading and writing blog posts. It's been a while since my last post where I just wrote about life. So here's one to catch you all up.

In a list form.

  • Since February I have given up meat. I've also given up most animal products in general. Cheese is a hard one, though. I've really tried to focus on a whole foods, plant based diet. If you'd like to hear more about this, let me know. I'd love to elaborate and share!
  • I recently passed the one year mark at work! One year! I'm so thankful for my job, the things I've learned, and the people I've met.
  • Chris and I have started house hunting! That's right! Hopefully in the next couple of months we will be moving into our own place - we're SO excited!
  • I've started running. I've already written a post about this, but I'm considering a half marathon in the fall. It's scary (and I've kind of taken a couple weeks off), but I'm excited for something to work towards.
  • A few weeks ago I met with a best friend of mine in Atlanta and took her and her fiance's Save the Date photos. I've been a fan and lover of photography for years and I'm finally taking a step forward with the possible pursuit of it becoming a hobby on the weekends! I'll share those photos with you all soon!
  • One of my other best friends (I mean, fraannnds) is actually moving down here to Alabama. We had a speech therapist position open up at my hospital  - she applied, was offered the job, and accepted! I'm beyond ecstatic for her to have this opportunity and to have a familiar face here with me!

So those are some of the main things going on right now - we've also had weekend trips, weddings, graduations, visitors, and other odds and ends keeping us busy, but needless to say, things have been nonstop and I'm happy I could take a minute and share some of these things with you! Hope you all are well!

Tribal and Tropical

JCPenny asked me to find a few items for the summer that embody the Tribal and Tropical themes we are already seeing around the fashion world. For my looks, I decided to go with a tribal print dress - for obvious reasons - and then bright colors for the tropical look. My favorite piece of all is definitely this dress. So comfortable and so trendy with the high-low cut. In fact, JCP had an amazing selection of dresses for me to explore. I'm pretty sure I'll be back in there very soon.

Over the {Wedding} Weekend

This past weekend we traveled up to western NC to watch two of our friends say I do. As soon as we entered into the area Thursday evening I could not stop smiling. I spent two years in this particular area while in grad school and something about these Blue Ridge Mountains makes me the happiest girl in the world - I love it there. So I was ecstatic a year or so ago when I heard the wedding was going to be only about 10 miles from where I lived. Who knew a castle existed so closely? Not I.

The entire weekend was wonderful and gorgeous. The rehearsal, wedding, and reception where all at the venue below. The views were spectacular, the bride and groom were glowing, and the little touches were so sweet. The reception was a blast - I danced the night away with friends as well as Cocky, the USC mascot. Yeah, he showed up. The majority of guests were all from USC and went to school with the bride and groom.

Here are just a couple photos from the weekend.
