1. What technology do you use in blogging? (computer, camera, video camera, tripod, etc...)
I use all of these! My computer is most definitely my number one piece of technology for blogging. I've never used my phone for writing a post, but I've never had to either. I've definitely used the video option on my digital camera for video posts, the camera on my phone when a regular one wasn't around, and my SLR for the majority of my pictures. Many of my daily threads photos are taken using my D40, a tripod, and a compatible Nikon remote.
2. What computer and online technology do you use? (blogging system, photo storage, photo editing tools, etc..)
Blogger (obviously). It is definitely my favorite blogging system. I've given Wordpress, Tumblr, Xanga, and LiveJournal all a try. For photo storage... (again) I've tried several: Photobucket, Webshots, and Flickr. If I had to pick one it would be Flickr; mostly because I've used it for a while, it's easy to navigate, and I'm familiar with it. However, as of right now, I usually just upload my photos through blogger. As far as editing, I use several editing tools: Google Picasa, Windows Editor, Paint (yes! Paint!), and an online editor Picnik.
3. What is your process for taking pictures?
There really isn't much of a process. I get dressed for the day, do my hair and makeup, and when I have the time I gather tripod, camera, and remote, and go snap the pictures.
4. When it comes to backdrops for your photos what do you consider? Do you scout locations or shoot the same spot daily?
If someone is with me (husband, brother) then yes, I definitely like to scout areas. Being a female and solo most times when taking photos, I try to stay close to home. I've recently been snapping photos right outside of our home (with a wall behind me) or either behind a parking garage in our community that's right across from our place. I'd love to venture out and find gorgeous places to put in the background of my photos, but I don't like going out to new places by myself too much and I don't like to bring attention to myself with a tripod and remote - thus I stick around here, usually behind something.
5. If you could splurge and get one new piece of equipment what would you be buying?
This guy. Or this guy. Either. I've really been wanting a HD video camera and the new D3100 or D7000 are kind of perfect. HD video, high mp, and user friendly - my kind of deal. While we are splurging I'd also like a couple different lenses and other accessories for the camera. Oh and maybe a new couch, a shopping spree, and some diamonds. I love splurging! Back to reality - on a not-so splurging note, I'd really like a Diana lens for my D40 in the future.
If you would like to read others' answers to the questions head over to Modly Chic for a full list of all participating!
I think we're very similar in how we take pictures on our own near our homes. and the Diana lens looks really cool. i had no idea something like that existed!

enter my giveaway!
I'd definitely love to hear more about your DSLR and lens selections - I'm thinking of getting one for my husband for his birthday (and of course, I can use it!).
ReplyDeleteI stick close to home as well - I definitely feel nervous going to unpopulated areas all by myself or with just Zeke.
I love how your splurge answer went from blogging tools to household items...cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteI chuckled when you mentioned other blogging systems {been theretoo}. Oh the Livejournal days.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend Linley!
I did not know they made a diana lens for nikon!!! I am squealing right now. Absolutely squealing!
ReplyDeleteAnd I hear you about the whole sole not wanting to go unfamiliar places alone thing. I am always a little nervous to go random places by myself for photos especially if they are secluded. I'm also after I'm going to be on private property and some redneck is going to come out waving a shotgun at me... this is the rural south after all. 0.o
I don't know many people who have used Wordpress and still prefer Blogger. I'm kinda glad you said that - I've used both and for my style blog I absolutely can't see myself switching to Wordpress anytime soon. I'm a Blogger gal too!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love the picture you chose for this post!
ReplyDeleteIt's so much more exciting to have someone around who will take the photos, especially in a cool location. Otherwise, like you, I'm sticking to the easy to photograph by myself places. - Katy
