I hated this outfit until I belted it with the braided, cognac belt. The sweater came with a belt made of the same material that you just tie into a pretty bow. I love bows, but much like Kendi's post about the mirror v. the camera... the mirror lied to me and the camera kept it real. (Thanks, camera). So I buckled the new belt and instantly felt a sense of accomplishment and relief.
I kind of wish I left this outfit for tomorrow. I really like comfy Saturday outfits and this would have been a winner; however, I guess that just leads to challenging myself and seeing what I can come up with tomorrow! (and Chris takes pictures tomorrow! yay!)
I'm getting close to #15 - I can't believe that! I've already started putting together thoughts about the challenge and lessons I've learned thus far - I cannot wait to share! And I'm excited to take a look at my first 15 looks side-by-side! This will take place on Monday.
Finally, last night I was laying in bed and mentally mix and matching my 30 items (anyone else do this? no? ok...). And then I began to think about tights. I thought about how much of a pain it is to just throw them into a drawer and then have to toss them around the drawer, out of the drawer, and over your shoulder just to find the pair you are looking for. So exhausting. So then I started to think of what I could do to be more organized in the tights department. I'm going to give my idea a try and hopefully I will report back with a DIY!
Sweater: Liz Claiborne
Tunic: NY&Co.
Cable Tights: Target
Boots: Steve Madden
Earrings: self-made
First off, your hair looks fabulous. I wish mine would do that but it's too thick. Secondly, this outfit is very cute! I didn't even realize those were tights!
ReplyDeleteActually every night before I go to bed (at least during the challenge) I get out my list of ideas and try to figure out what I am going to wear tomorrow (and a back up).
ReplyDeleteIt really helps in the morning and eliminates me standing and staring at my closet in confusion. That is until I try on my idea (and the back up) and both look awful. Then I know it's going to be a long morning for me and the closet.
I HATE trying to find a particular pair of tights in my sock drawer. I have this one pair of black tights that are "boots only" because they have a run way up the side but I'm too cheap to throw them away. And then I never know which pair is the good pair and which pair is the runny pair. Ugh. I'd love a more organized solution, too!
ReplyDeleteUmmm, please, if you come up with a way to successfully organize tights let me know! I hate stuffing them into drawers because I'm always afraid they're going to snag on a corner or some nick in the wood and then they get all bunched up and I can't tell which pair is which!
ReplyDeleteAnd totally hear you on the mirror v. camera - my camera saved me from office ridicule and fashion nightmare yesterday! :)
Small Time Style
i tie my tights in a knot all on a hanger...by color. they look so pretty all together! and i know where they all are. hmm...think i have a post to do on that!
ReplyDeletei've tried the knot/hanger things. it does work well, but you always have to tie them in a knot to hang and untie the knot to wear... that's my only beef with the hanger method.
ReplyDeletei love this look! i always want something comfy on a saturday too. comfy & cozy. also love your braid, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love your hair and tights.. and your sweater.. well pretty much the entire outfit :) You always have great ideas!
ReplyDeleteOh, your hair looks so pretty. & this outfit is amazing. Your camera is a bitch.
ReplyDeleteI super don't like my outfit today. It feels over-worked & I don't think the shorts work too well with it, but since I have to use my thirty items, I'm making it work. Ugh. Tough styling day.
I love those tights! They look so thick and cozy.
ReplyDeleteI'm also definitely eager to know how to organize tights better, mine are all thrown in a drawer with socks and bras and I can never find anything.
PS Laying in bed before I go to sleep is when I put together my outfit for the next day too!
This definitely looks comfortable but still stylish. I'm really looking forward to seeing your DIY since I used to tie my tights on a hanger but have given up & throw them in a drawer now.
ReplyDeleteI have leggings that are very similar to your tights... I wore them for outfit #3, I think? I think I need to try to wear them again this weekend.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I TOTALLY lay in bed and mentally mix & match outfits. It actually helps me fall asleep at night. If you're weird, so am I! :)
love these cable tights! your blog is awesome, can't wait to see what else you do for the 30 for 30!

Hi, fellow remixer here. And just like you, I DO lay in bed and mentally remix and remix and remix. Sometimes, I have to get out of bed and turn on the closet light to be sure.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to a post about ANY way to organize tights.
love your hair! also, the color of the sweater is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your first summary.
And yes, I do remix in my head for the next day before I fall asleep...doctor, is it serious?
Your hair is beautiful! I am jealous :)
ReplyDeletei can't believe you're almost on outfit 15!! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought to layer a collared shirt with a longer cardigan but i will definitely have to try this look soon. thanks for the inspiration!

linley, i feel you on the belt. i had a dilemma to belt or not belt something as well and ended up not belting it. still not sure if should have.
